Abstract

This study aims to map the field of study and thesis research methods as well as to find out the intellectual dynamics of the PBA master program students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The type of research used is library research with a historical approach. The analysis technique used is content analysis in the form of descriptive analysis. The primary data source in this study was the student thesis of the PBA master program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga from 2015-2021, which amounted to 183 theses. Classification of data on study variants and thesis research methods was carried out based on the theory of Muhbib Abdul Wahab and Agung Setiyawan. The results of the analysis in this study indicate that 1) research studies on the thesis of the PBA master program students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga from 2015-2021 were dominated by studies on the components of teaching and learning, as many as 89 theses (50%). Furthermore, the study of the system and policy of learning Arabic with 34 theses (19.1%). Then, linguistics was studied in 26 theses (14,6%), the theme of educational technology and Arabic learning was studied in 14 theses (7.9%). Furthermore, the study of maharah was studied in 8 student theses (4.5%) And finally, the study of Arabic thought and research, which was only 7 out of 178 theses (3.9%). The research method used in the student thesis of the PBA master program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga from the largest percentage to the smallest is as follows: Development of 49 theses (27.5%), activity analysis 44 theses (24.7%), literature study 31 theses ( 17,4%), Case study 22 theses (12,4%), Experimental Method 10 theses (5.6%), comparative method 8 theses (4.5%), correlation method 7 theses (3.9%), survey 5 theses (2.8), procedural 1 thesis (0.6%), historical method 1 thesis (0.6%). 2) There is an intellectual dynamic that occurs among students of the PBA master program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. This can be shown by the dominance of thesis studies in each year which is different from 2015 to 2021. From the intellectual dynamics that occurred, it can be concluded that the intellectual climate of the PBA master program students tends to consider aspects of Arabic teaching practice rather than aspects of Arabic education concepts and thoughts.
