Abstract

Indonesian has a very large zakat potential which can prosper its people. However, to achieve this, it must be supported from various parties such as public awareness of zakat, the government with its policies, and the agency that manages it. Yogyakarta city BAZNAS as the manager of zakat tries to maximize its duties so that zakat is truly realized and provides benefits for the community. However, the covid-19 pandemic that attacked various landscapes of the life changed and slumped. Yogyakata city BAZNAS was also affected by the pandemic. This study aims to examine the case study zakat in the Yogyakarta city BAZNAS in adapting to various innovations made to manage zakat during the pandemic and take advantage of the role of zakat to help economic recovery. The method in this study used an interview technique with the amil Yogyakarta city BAZNAS and samples were taken from several beneficiaries during the pandemic. As a result, the Yogyakarta city BAZNAS succeeded in managing zakat in difficult times during the covid-19 pandemic. This is evidenced in terms of the collection which has increased from the previous year.
