Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of audiovisual media as a means of user education in the Library of the University of 'Aisyiyah Yogyakarta. This research uses quantitative descriptive research. The subjects of this research are users who have watched user education content broadcasts on audiovisual media at the 'Aisyiyah Yogyakarta University Library 2021. The object of this research is audiovisuals on user education facilities at the 'Aisyiyah University Yogyakarta library. The population in this study are all users who visit the library in 2021. The number of visitors is not known for certain, so the determination of the number of samples uses the Lemeshow formula with a sample of 96 respondents. Data collection techniques using observation techniques, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. Data analysis used the calculation of the mean and grand mean. Measurement of audiovisual effectiveness According to James C. McDavid stated that measuring the effectiveness of a program can be done by using several aspects including Need, Object, Input, Activities. The results of this study indicate that the audiovisual media in the Library of the University of 'Aisyiyah Yogyakarta is an effective media and can be applied by the library as one of the media for delivering user educational content with a grand mean value of 3.18. The Need dimension shows a mean value of 3.13, Object (Target) with a value of 3.12, Input with a value of 3.32, and Activities (activities) with a value of 3.16. Suggestions to the Library of the University of Aisyiyah Yogyakarta). Suggestions to the library of the University of 'Aisyiyah Yogyakarta in terms of the availability of facilities, especially on the number of TV screens (monitors), and sound. The library is expected to add several TV (monitor) facilities, sound in order to help increase the effectiveness of the use of audiovisual media in user education activities, secondly, maintain the material, especially in terms of clarity and interest in user educational content.
