Abstract

The development makes content creators to compete to present content that captures the audiences attention by commodifying something interesting and popular around them. as is the case with Kimbab Family who takes advantage of the moment of Eid celebration by uploading it on YouTube to attract viewers and get profit. This study aims to determine the form of commodification in Eid content on the Kimbab Family youtube account in 2020-2022. This research is a descriptive qualitative research using descriptive content analysis method with Vincent Mosco's commodification theory. The results of this study indicate that in the content of Eid al-Fitr uploaded by Kimbab Family there is commodification of content, audiences, and labor. The commodification of content is shown in the use of religious elements in the form of clothes, sentences, food, and friendship, respecting parents, and sharing. Commodification of audience can be seen from the target audience Kimbab Family, Indonesian people who are predominantly Muslim, so many Indonesians like Kimbab Family videos. Commodification labor, Kebab Family involves family members independently and consistently in creating content even when they are celebrating Eid al-Fitr.
