Abstract

This research aimed to know the influence of utilization of school library collections on student achievement grade V SD N Giwangan Yogyakarta. Methods of data collection used are questionnaires as primary method, observation, interviews, and documentation as a complementary method. It is population researches with respondents areoverall of student grade V of SD N Giwangan Yogyakarta academic year 2011/2012 as many as 70 students. The analysis used was descriptive quantitative analysis. In this research, there are two variables with the details of the average value as follows: the variable of use of the library collection (variable x) is 3.48 with a high category. The variable student achievement (variable y) is 77.71 with a category quite well. The results showed a positive and significant correlation between the utilization of library collections on student achievement grade V of SD N Giwangan Yogyakarta with a correlation value of 0.656. Suggestions for SD N Giwangan Yogyakarta, are to develop and improve the quality of collections, especially collections that support student achievement in order to utilize the collection is stillhigh and rising. Teachers and librarians need to be more direct and the students to improve student achievement.Librarian needs to attract students to improve service in terms of both collection and servicein order to further enhance utilization of library collections to support academic achievement.
